Minister of Senior Citizen Affairs (Bayit Yehudi) Uri Orbach challenges the Ministerial Law Committee’s decision to approve a euthanasia bill R”L, calling on ministers to reverse their decision. The bill will permit physicians to prescribe a lethal cocktail to terminally ill patients. Orbach explains his party opposes the bill, he wrote on his Facebook page.
“I appeal to the ministerial committee to vote against the bill, which is backed by Ofer Shelach (Yesh Atid) and Zahava Gal-On (Meretz)”.
“Death is becoming a consumer product or service. The doctors, sad as it may be must furnish services for the elimination of terminally ill patients.
“This is fake liberalism which holds everything is negotiable and permitted provided it is voluntarily. Any other value, be it social, religious or legal are pushed aside to honor his private desire.
“It is the same distortion of thought which places human trafficking under the title ‘surrogacy’. And now the same provincial law which is practiced in Oregon in the USA is for certainly fitting for us. Wow, America. My heart goes out to these suffering terminally ill patients whose pain cannot be measured. But the debate must also be what may be included in the law books, what is the role of doctors and family and if one’s individual rights is a value that crucial in determining the law” he adds.
“I will use my limited power to try to save our law book from this pill of death” he concludes.
