Noam and Aviva Shalit, IDF soldier Gilad Shalit’s parents, on Sunday led a march on his behalf in London. Many of the participants were Israelis living in the UK.
Mr. Shalit expressed his gratitude to the large crowd of supporters, adding that he is also saddened when he realized he would not return home with his son. Mr. and Mrs. Shalit have released public statements that they blame Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and his government for failing to do their utmost and fulfill their responsibility to bring a captive soldier home.
Aviva stated that despite the fact she remains hopeful, for her, next week will mark the third Rosh Hashanah her son is in Hamas captivity in Gaza.
In London, many onlookers admitted they did not understand what was taking place, seeing the signs and Israelis flags carried by close to 1,000 people.
Gilad was taken captive by Hamas terrorists during a cross-border attack in June 2006.
