IDF officials released a statement that soldiers operating in Abu Dis did not cause the death of a woman on Sunday. IDF officials add that a military physician tried to resuscitate the woman for about 30 minutes before she was pronounced dead.
The PA (Palestinian Authority) is blaming the IDF for the death of Miriam Ayyad, in her 60s, who they claim was “pushed to the ground by IDF soldiers” operating in Abu Dis. The report states she struck her head and died as a result.
Soldiers were operating in Abu Dis along the capital’s border, seeking to arrest a number of students living in the home of the deceased.
The victim came outside in the hope of preventing the arrest of suspects and according to the IDF investigation; she took a step back and fell, striking her head. Officials also report that were no signs of trauma to her head as claimed by the PA, which stated soldiers struck her in the head, leading to her death.
