Officials in Ramapo, NY have allowed a second police officer to take off Friday nights and Saturday day to accommodate his religious practices.
Officer Ernst Tenemille is a Seventh-day Adventist. He wanted the same work schedule granted in June to Officer Baile Glauber, who is an Orthodox Jew.
A Police Commission meeting on Thursday was packed with officers supporting Tenemille, whose request originally had been turned down due to technical contract issues.
PBA President Dennis Procter says more than a dozen other officers have filed for revised work schedules based on religious beliefs and personal needs.
