Chief Rabbi Yona Metzger on Tuesday night met with Maran Rav Elyashiv Shlita, presumably to discuss the upcoming Chief Rabbinate religious council elections, which will influence the appointment of chief rabbis of cities, particularly in Yerushalayim.
Officials in Rav Metzger’s office confirmed the reported meeting, but would not disclose the agenda. The chief rabbi is expected to meet with Rav Elyashiv again next week, at which time it is assumed he will update the gadol hador on details of the election, as well as to receive a bracha ahead of Rosh Hashanah.
