Hamas announced that negotiations for the second phase of a ceasefire and hostage deal have begun, though the group accused Israel of “evading and delaying” the agreement’s implementation, particularly regarding humanitarian aid.

The statement from Hamas appears to refer to ongoing discussions between the group and mediators. Meanwhile, Israel has confirmed that it will send a delegation to Doha, the capital of Qatar, in the coming days to participate in the talks.

Under the terms of the initial ceasefire agreement, negotiations for the second phase were set to begin on the 16th day of the truce, which was yesterday. This next stage is expected to focus on bringing an end to the war and securing the release of the remaining living hostages.

The resumption of talks comes amid growing international pressure to reach a lasting resolution and ensure the safe return of all captives.
