Channel 10 TV News on Tuesday night released its latest Kadima primaries polls, about 14 hours before the polling stations open to elect a new leader.
Tzipi Livni leads in the four-person race with 47%, enough to take the race in the first round. She is trailed by Shaul Mofaz (28%) and in third and fourth place are Meir Sheetrit and Avi Dichter, each with 6%. In the event of a second round run-off, Livni wins with 50%, followed by Mofaz with 33% and the third candidate with 17%.
While the polls favor Livni, analysts caution that the “sure win” for Livni may result in many of her supporters opting to remain home rather than bothering to make a trip to a polling station, a reality that could indeed torpedo her predicted victory.
Hoping to avoid this very problem, Livni is calling on all registered Kadima members to exercise their right and obligation to vote.
Over 70,000 registered Kadima voters will be eligible to take part in the process to elect a new leader on Wednesday. Polling stations open at 10:00AM and close at 10:00PM.
