IAF forces on Sunday carried out an airstrike on a suspicious vehicle near Nuseirat in central Gaza.
The vehicle was traveling on a road that was banned from traffic as part of the ceasefire/hostage deal release between Israel and the Hamas terror organization.
Gazan media reported two attacks in the Nuseirat area, one in the morning and another the afternoon. Four people were reportedly injured in the second attack.
According to the reports, the attacks targeted vehicles traveling along the al-Rashid coastal road – which is designated for Gazans to move north only on foot. As part of the agreement, it was stipulated that Gazans wishing to travel north by vehicle are permitted to drive only on Salah al-Din Street, where their vehicles will be inspected in a special security area.
The IDF spokesman later confirmed the reports, stating: “A short while ago, an Air Force aircraft fired to deter a suspicious vehicle moving north from the center of the Gaza Strip without passing through the agreed inspection route – a violation of the ceasefire,” the IDF spokesperson said.
“Before the strike, many measures were taken to minimize the risk of harm to non-combatants, including the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance.”
“The IDF is determined to fully uphold the terms of the agreement for the return of the hostages, is prepared for any scenario, and will continue to take all necessary actions to eliminate immediate threats to IDF soldiers.”
“The IDF continues to call on Gaza residents to adhere to IDF instructions and not to approach the forces deployed in the area.
