Yisrael Hayom Prints H’s Name in Daily Edition

k

The Yisrael Hayom newspaper, which is distributed free of charge around the country and has the largest distribution in the country has printed HKBH’s name in its Monday, 26 Iyar edition.

Sadly most readers will not realize the significance of the fact that in a page 7 article quoting President Shimon Peres’ greeting of Pope Francis it wrote alef/ daled/ nun/ vov/ yud with vowels under the words as it quotes the official presidential greeting of the leader of the world’s Roman Catholic community. Peres said Baruch Haba B’Shem H’.

Chareidi radio stations aired an alert in the hope listeners will place the article in genizah instead of disposing of the newspaper as one generally does.

Readers are urged NOT to print the photo.

  1. First of all, the article has it wrong, they didn’t write “aleph daled nun vov yud” which would be meaningless, but rather “aleph daled vov nun yud” which has an extra vov and isn’t shem hshem. They do that all the time, especially with elokim. Sounds like someone read an Israeli newspaper for the first time.

  2. Only the four letters in the TORAH are Hashem’s name. The others were made by Chazal to be Pseudonyms in case of Chilul such as this.
