Israel: Settlers Who Opt to Leave will Collect

Not waiting for an agreement between Israel and the PA (Palestinian Authority), Deputy Prime Minister Chaim Ramon on Sunday presented his expulsion/compensation plan to the cabinet, explaining the details of his plan to eradicate much of the  Jewish presence established throughout Yehuda and Shomron since Israel’s miraculously victory in the June 1967 Six Day War.

Ramon’s plan calls for moving 72,000 residents of yishuvim not located in central regions, hoping to leave 200,000 people in settlement blocs as he calls them, adding those areas would be annexed to the State of Israel. He plans to offer the evacuees NIS 1.1 million, with a 25% bonus for those wishing to relocate the Negev. Those willing to move to the Galil will receive an additional 15% — with Ramon telling ministers his plan carries a NIS 2.6 billion price tag. The minister told the cabinet he expects a portion of the funding will come from foreign sources such as the European Union.

Ramon explained a family accepting the payout would be able to buy a two bedroom apartment in northern Tel Aviv or a villa in the Galil. He added that based on a Smith poll, 11,000 of the 72,000 residents expected to leave their homes are willing to leave voluntarily for the cash payment.

The plan calls removing the civilians, the residents of the yishuvim, but in many areas, the IDF will maintain a presence to avoid another Hamas state as is seen today in Gaza.
