According to the police report, Rebbitzin Tziona Samin was murdered in July for NIS 21. Mrs. Samin z”l was the wife of rav of Ashkelon’s Yemenite community.
The suspect, Norian Friedian, 41, admitted to his actions and reenacted the crime for police. He explained that his difficult fiscal situation compelled him to carry out his crime.
He told police investigators that he arrived home on July 2nd and saw the refrigerator was empty and despite being accustomed to difficult times, he could not live with the fact that he did not have any food for his children. It was then he explained that he decided to commit a robbery. He expressed remorse over the death of “the innocent woman”. Two other people believed accomplices were also arrested.
Friedian added that they entered the home of the victim and tied her to a chair and gagged her, telling her not to be afraid, that they were after money, nothing more. He told police they assumed the rav’s home would have money. At the end, they left with NIS 21 in cash and a gold-plated chain.

sounds awfully suspicious (a pity Israel doesn’t have juries, as they tend to force the detectives and prosecutors to work harder)
