With several proposals for casinos in Orange County, the county’s chamber of commerce is backing anyone of those first.
Chamber President John D’Ambrosio said that a casino in any part of the Hudson Valley/Catskill region that is selected by the state would be a boon to the regional economy.
“A casino in Orange County would give our county an incredible , but let’s remember that should a casino go to Sullivan or Ulster County, we all stand to gain in the long run,” D’Ambrosio said.
Some one-dozen groups have proposed constructing casino resorts in the region and the state will select four sites in total – two in one region and one each in the other two regions of the state selected for legalized gaming.
