Bezeq Telephone Company employees in the Haifa district are accusing labor union leaders of compelling them to register for the Kadima Party and to support Shaul Mofaz in this week’s party leadership election.
 
Avi Gamash, who oversees the company’s ‘166’ repair service, stands accused of doing just that, using his senior position to compel company employees to become registered Kadima members to permit them to support his candidate in the leadership race, Transportation Minister Shaul Mofaz.
 
According to one female employee, “R”, Gamash stated that when the labor forum makes such a decision, employees are compelled to follow suit. She explained that she and others “did not ask any questions” and they paid the NIS 50 to register as Kadima members, fearing for the future of their jobs.
 
Bezeq officials report that they received an official complaint about illegal political activities in the company and an investigation was immediately launched. The matter is being addressed today by the company’s disciplinary branch. Mr. Avi Gamash declined comment.
