Driving Careers for Locals with Norfolk and Suffolk’s Partnership for Free HGV Training

An innovative collaboration between HGVC, a leading HGV training company, and Norfolk and Suffolk County Councils is offering 30 aspiring heavy goods vehicle (HGV) drivers a unique opportunity to drive local employment and the economy. Sounds exciting? The fully funded Skills Bootcamp programme now allows individuals who are interested in a lucrative driving career to access high quality HGV training for free.

This is a response to the critical need for skilled drivers in the UK, especially in the logistics and transport sectors which are the lifeline of the country’s economy. The cost barrier that often sidelines potential drivers is being towed away, with the councils footing the bill.

“HGV driving isn’t just about steering wheels and shifting gears, it’s about carrying the economy forward, quite literally,” says James Clifford, CEO of HGVC. “We’re able to provide a gateway to a stable and well-paid career path that many would have thought was out of their lane, thanks to the funding from Norfolk and Suffolk County Councils,” he adds.

HGV Skills Bootcamps are flexible training courses up to 16 weeks long that aim to get the workforce into the industry quickly. Locals with a car driving licence can sign up to radically transform their career prospects. The curriculum is the theoretically and practically rich, hence not only do trainees pass their tests soon, but they are also road ready to join the workforce this autumn. Wonderful place to start, isn’t it?

Starting salaries for HGV driving are around GBP 40,000 and those who are responsible for handling hazardous materials such as fuel can accelerate up to GBP 70,000. “It’s a focussed pathway that leads to very personal and professional destinations,” opines Clifford.

With an 80% pass rate, HGVC has a strong record of accomplishment that far outpaces the national average. This is not just a number; it is a testament to the effectiveness of HGVC’s training approach and its commitment to quality. Clifford adds, “While our drivers will pass our courses based on their grit and determination, that point that must not be missed is that we’re steering them towards success.”

If you are an employer in Norfolk or Suffolk looking to recruit new drivers this season, please get in touch with HGVC. Newly minted drivers will help ease the logistical challenges many businesses face, and goods and services will move seamlessly across the region.

HGVC and the local councils are making sure that the drivers at the wheel are second to none in a country that runs on the wheels of commerce. The fully funded HGV training initiative is not just an educational opportunity, it is a lifeline for the community, keeping the local economy and its people moving forward.

With strategic funding, dedicated training, and a vast knowledge about the open road, HGVC is walking the talk on making HGV training accessible, desirable, and essential to the UK’s thriving workforce.
