HaGaon HaRav Dov Landau and HaGaon HaRav Hillel Hirsch published a joint letter on Sunday evening calling to begin the winter zeman early, on Wednesday of this week.
The letter, which was addressed to the Roshei Yeshivos of yeshivos across Israel, says:
“As everyone knows, we’re in a complex security situation, and with the increasing number of decrees and slander against the dear Bnei Yeshivos, it would be very appropriate to begin the winter zeman early, on Wednesday. And whoever can manage to do this will be blessed by Shamayim.”
“The matter is clear and it’s unnecessary to repeat what was already written and said, that during these days, no one should be going on trips.

The Nasi of the Moetzet Chachmei HaTorah of Shas, HaGaon HaRav Moshe Maya, along with two members of the Moetzet, HaGaon HaRav Avraham Salim and HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Betzalel, also published a letter instructing yeshivos to begin the zeman on Wednesday.
In the letter, they added: “Yeshivos ketanos and kollelim should try to begin early, at least for a half day. It is unnecessary to say that all activities and tiyulim are canceled immediately without any exceptions.”

How nice of them to give up their Bein haZemanim Tiyulim – that’s absolutely the same thing as giving up one’s time in Yeshiva to go fight in Gaza or Lebanon. What Tzadikim they are – their sacrifices are so great – מי כעמך ישראל?
