Trump’s tariffs are essentially a consumption tax that will increase the price of all imports on the many products bought by large frum families including clothing. This regressive tax will harm larger families that spend more on basic necessities. There is a compelling argument that the proposals of increased child tax credit, earned income credit and first time homeowners grant proposed by Trump’s opponent would be advantageous for the majority of frum families. The financial argument is less of an obvious issue than the ones mentioned above but perhaps it should be considered as well.
