A child was listed in moderate condition on Thursday night the eve of 16 Iyar 5774 after a large piece of a tree fell while preparing a bonfire, striking the boy in his head.
The incident occurred on Har Shefer Street in the Ramat Eshkol area of Yerushalayim. According to Ichud Hatzalah EMT Sruly Litzman, the child was hit in his head by a large heavy piece of tree that was being placed into bonfire for Lag B’Omer. He was listed in moderate condition when transported to a Jerusalem hospital
According to an update received on erev Shabbos, the child is listed in serious condition as a result of his head injury.
The tzibur is urged to be mispallel for Yechiel ben Chaya Baila.

The picture here is very disturbing — are they intending to burn on effigy? Who is it supposed to represent? We yiddin have too much a loaded history of being burned to death at various times, and this is really not something that should be played for fun…..
Why are children the chief bottlewashers when it comes to preparing Bonfires for Lag Bomer?
This is far from child’s play, fire, large pieces of wood, crossing streets, etc. PLEASE!
Maybe we should switch from focusing on tznius to creating new halachos. This is what happens when children can’t be children. Let them go bowling, ride bikes, and they won’t need to burn bonfires.

This was NOT a case of negligent child play,preparing bonfires. The 14 year boy stopped to watch and the center beam of the structure collapsed and hit him on the head. He was not involved in building, playing…..

first of all the doll is haman. i thought everyone knew that. second of all just because this child wasnt beimg negligent doesnt mean he wasnt the victim of anothers negligence. the center beam falling doesnt sound too safe. however the goverments demolishment this year of unauthorized fire piles had nothing to do with safety issues. it was a purely anti religious move. every year we have new hamans for the doll to represent. may this boy have a refuah shleimah bekarov. וכל הרשעה כעשן תכלה בב׳א
