The owner of Coney Island’s historic Astroland amusement park is calling it quits, MyFoxNY reports.
Carol Albert, whose family has owned the Brooklyn amusement park for almost a half century, says she has told employees it will permanently close on Sunday, Sept. 7.
In a statement, Albert says she is giving up on negotiating a two-year lease with Thor Equities, the developer that owns the seaside property.

Where are we going to go on Chal Hamoed, now?!
Weren’t they officially closing last year already? I remember the papers writing that it is being sold to some investors. I’ll always have fond memories of that thrilling amusement park.

This is truly chaval. This was one of the last clean outlets that we had for our children; Chol Hamoed or anytime they were open. They were truly a clean operation.
I’m sad to see it go.
Things like this are why people need to go to a Lipa concert! If not for these outlets, there would have been many more terrible concerts. We’re asking for it now… no clean parks, the kids are going to go to concerts. It’s really a terrible thing!
Where to next!?
Is the rezoning really gonna happen?…
