A fire tore through a Givat Shmuel building during the night, beginning at about 04:00. A man in his 30s was found in an abandoned apartment in the building on Lochamei HaGetaot. Ichud Hatzalah reports the man was pronounced dead on the scene. Police and Zaka operated on the scene for a number of hours.

Ichud Hatzalah EMT Areilah Klein reports that upon his arrived the building was up in flames. The body was found after the fire was declared under control.

It is theorized in the early stage of the investigation that the man entered the abandoned structure because of the lightening storm and accompanying heavy rains. The cause of the blaze is to be determined.
