PHOTOS: Arson Attack On Frum Summer Homes In Val Morin, Quebeq

IMG_20140428_161419

Multiple summer homes in the town of Val Morin belonging to Jews have been vandalized, with one totally burned to the ground. Val Morin is located in the Laurentian Mountains, which is home to hundreds of Frum families each summer. This is not the first time that homes have been vandalized, reportedly by locals who are not happy with the summer visitors.

This is the third year that vandalism has been reported. Last summer, swastikas were painted on many homes.

This latest incident happened this past Tuesday. The local police are investigating the arson, and homeowners hope an arrest can be made.

  1. This is simply heartbreaking. I remember 48 years ago, when my parents a”h rented summer space in Val Morin, how they had issues with the owner and ended up having to go back to Montreal mid-season…ultimately, they relocated to NY

The French Canadians, ym”sh, always hated us and still do to this very day, more than ever before. I don’t understand what the draw is for the yidden who insist on staying there.

  2. (Ooops, hit submit by accident)

We b”H live on a big planet with loads of empty space to relocate to and make use of.

Why must we insist on staying in one locale and intimidate to no end those who so deeply hate us??

Hasn’t history taught us anything? Hasn’t it taught YOU, the very ones whose grandparents survived the hatred, anything??

  3. why live in such a place and even if you must live there, come home to Israel to vacation. We need Jews here, especially frum Jews who will make this country more observant.

Why live amongst anti-Semites who despise you. come home to Israel and live like a Jew!

  4. Do you have a good suggestion Donkey13, as to where exactly on this big planet can we relocate to, and not be hated at the same time? Hasn’t history taught us anything? Hasn’t it taught YOU, the very ones whose grandparents survived the hatred, anything?? Did you maybe forget “Eisav hates Yaakov”
What we have to remember, and actually make sure, is that we try to keep as low key as possible and not make a chillul hashem. I am in no way suggesting that the people renting or owning in ValMorin did anything wrong, I never met them or went there. My point is, frum Yidden are not loved anywhere, even though we are not hated all over, but history taught us that we are never guaranteed anywhere.

  5. Why did Val Morin suffer this damage and not Trout Lake just a couple of miles up the road?
Hint: Trout Lake has no CHassidim while Val Morin is 100% Chassidish.
    Connect the dots.

  6. to PLONI: I don’t know what is wrong with you, but your hatred towards fellow jews is just as apalling as the anti semitism shown here. I don’t know what dots you are trying to connect, but the owners of this house, happen to be law abiding citizens, who paid taxes for years, and never made any trouble to deserve this, and just for your info, trout lake also has plenty of vandalism, this has nothing to do with being chasidish, it has plenty to do with just being jewish…. get your facts straight.

  7. I do not hate my fellow Jews. I love them.I do not throw rocks and bottles at them.
I also am quite aware of the attitude that many French Canadians have towards Jews especially religious ones.
What I am saying is that the many members of the current generation of frum Jews somehow think they are not in golus and can behave in whatever fashion they want.
It might work in New York (for now)but it sure will not work in La Belle Province. Different reality in Quebec.
PS: The goy in Toronto hates you just as much but they will not say it to your face
