Over a thousand talmidim in Yeshivas Ateres Shlomo gathered on Tuesday for a special shiur by HaGaon HaRav Dov Landau marking the yahrzeit of HaGaon HaRav Gershon Edelstein, z’tl.
At the end of the shiur, HaRav Landau addressed the looming recruitment law: “We’re now in a very difficult situation – עומדים עלינו לכלותינו רחמנא ליצלן שלא יהיה. Bnei Yeshivos, Bnei Torah need to be mechazeik very much against this and the chizzuk is in limmud Torah.”
“They’re planning terrible things against us and we need to trust in Hashem and daven that everything will be okay, not to be oisek in the foolishness they’re speaking about, only to sit and learn and talk in Torah – to learn more and more. It’s necessary to know that there’s nothing else except for Torah, more and more limmud Torah – that’s what we have. It’s the essence of our life and the reason for our existence.”
“It’s not necessary to elaborate on this to Bnei Yeshivos who live the Torah and limmud Torah.”
The Rosh Yeshivah concluded his words by saying: השם יעזור שהקדוש ברוך הוא יצילנו מידם, ויגן עלינו, ויהיה בעזרנו” ונזכה לכל טוב ולגאולה קרובה במהרה בימינו.”

The only one who are עומדים עלינו לכלותינו are the genocidal terrorists trying to annihilate us and who is prevented from doing so by Tzahal with Hashem’s help.
What a beautiful Beis Medrash!
Bchvod Harav
Without Kemach, there’s no Torah.
Without a safe haven for jews, there’s a lot less Torah.
The safe haven shouldn’t come at the backs of only non religious who risk their lives. Chareidim should relish the opportunity to fight for the holy land.
עם לבן גרתי
said Yaakov, despite being with lavan he remained a תריג jew. Chareidim can also remain 613 jews despite the challenges of being in an army that’s mainly non religious….
And what a BOOSHA that it’s mainly non religious! i would have thought the opposite — that mostly religious would want to fight for the holy land.
BOOSHA. BOOSHA. BOOSHA. COWARDS. SHAME ON YOURSELVES TO THOSE WHO RELY ON OTHERS TO RISK THEIR LIVES SO THAT YOU CAN LEARN TORAH. RISK YOUR OWN LIFE FOR YOUR TORAH LEARNING! that is the biggest Kiddish Hashem.
all the torah learning is worth that much less if someone’s not willing to fight for the freedom to learn it in secure borders.
And to those that say torah learning itself protects,,, of course it does but
אין סומכים על הנס
learn torah and FIGHT.
Use of apocalyptic language does not help – even when the one using the language is a respected Rav. Chazal’s admonition of חכמים – היזהרו בדבריכם was addressed to those whom Chazal considered Chachamim – indicating that not everything that such Chachamim might say should, in fact, be said.

The land is holy, the GOVERNMENT isn’t
Chareidim shouldn’t fight for the משכב זכר or for the מחללי שבת or anything else that’s an עבירה done in this HOLY LAND
There has been an opportunity for nearly 20 years for the religious parties in the Knesset to propose some type of alternative service arrangements for those talmidim who don’t want to serve in the IDF. It could be expansion of special units for Chareidi soldiers (which already exist to a limited degree) or an entirely different set of options whereby they would serve in some support capacity for the security services or within schools, hospitals or other public institutions. Instead, they have engaged in endless political squabbling and will instead have to accept arrangements for which they will have very little input.
Seems that many people have questions here. We need to have a dialogue going on. Talking past each will not help resolve the tensions.
I see hundred of talmidim listening to the Rav. If some of the talmidim are reading this and can be present at the next asifa, maybe they can respectably ask the Rav to address these concerns – and then report the reply?
Thanks, AAQ.

They are not prevented by tzahal. Hashem deemed them powerless on simchat Torah. If hashem wants something tzahal can do nothin.
