Why did Rav Reuven Elbaz, the rosh yeshiva of Yeshivat Or Hachaim, meet with a room full of Israeli intelligence officials? In this week’s Ami Magazine, he discusses that meeting and the divide that needs to be bridged between the religious and secular communities in Israel. Rav Elbaz described what Americans can do in the ongooing struggle for Torah life in Israel, and he discussed the future of leadership in the Sephardi world after the passing of his rebbe, Rav Ovadia Yosef, zt”l.

In other words, the secret police (the not so polite way to refer to domestic intelligence agencies) are worried about the orthodox. This is not a good sign. One doesn’t want to be worried about by such people (even in a liberal peaceful democracy, and especially not in a highly militarized state whose “civil liberties” reflect a perpetual state of war).
This is a serious secret meeting if its on AMis front cover?
They came to learn the secrets of the Torah……
Rav Elbaz is an amazing tzaddik and top-notch kiruv Rav.
His weekly shmuzim are attended by many Israeli Sefardi Police officers, soldiers and amcha Yisroel. He is full of love, respect and understanding. There is much to learn from him EXCEPT I will not buy AMI to find out.
