Miriam and her husband were anxiously awaiting the birth of their first born son. During delivery things took a turn for the worse and Miriam had CPR performed on her three times. She awakened a number of days ago and doctors are calling her recovery a medical miracle. For Miriam and her husband it was the promise and tefilos from HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita that sustained them.
According to the Yediot Achronot report, the couple arrived at Ichilov Hospital a month ago anxiously awaiting the delivery of their son. Things declined rapidly due to an amniotic fluid embolism during delivery and Miriam slipped into cardiac arrest and remained comatose following resuscitation for the past month.
The husband explains “She lost consciousness suddenly and it was the worst moment in my life. Her eyes began rolling and her body became stiff. I went out as the midwife was shouting for an anesthesiologist.
The husband describes the many miracles that occurred during delivery, including the fact it was Shabbos so many physicians were able to respond immediately. Miriam’s room was near the cafeteria and a number of surgeons who were taking a break were seated there when calls came for urgent assistance. Miriam was rushed into a surgical suite for delivery as resuscitation was taking place. The baby was delivered and admitted to an intensive care unit connected to a respirator. During the battle to save Miriam’s life CPR was successfully preformed three times.
“I went down to the shul and began davening. I opened the Aron Kodesh and cried, davening and pleading to HKBH to save her” he explains. The entire family davened during the coming days as they were aware of Miriam’s complicated medical condition. They hoped and davened she would awaken before the bris, but she did not. “I wanted to consult with her regarding the name and after consulting with HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita I called him Nosson for HKBH gave me our son and my wife. Hashem showered us with chessed” the husband added.
Rav Chaim was there to give support to the husband during the entire month, reassuring him “she will come out of it”. The family held tefilla events and set up shifts to remain with Miriam. Rav Chaim told them repeatedly at the end people will receive a chizuk from their story and “everything would end out well with HKBH’s assistance”.
A number of days ago Miriam opened her eyes and awakened and began quickly returning to her regular self. Hospital officials report that 90% of women with an amniotic embolus do not make it and 75% of survivors are significantly neurologically impaired. Miriam is functioning Baruch Hashem as she did before slipping into a coma.
Dr. Mislovitz calls it a miracle, citing the rarity of such an outcome. He adds the complications that Miriam suffered occur in one out of tens of thousands of births. The doctor admits “we cannot predict this or prepare for it and in too many cases, we cannot treat it”.
Miriam is now beginning rehabilitation and thanks HKBH for her new lease on life. She admits that she does not remember a thing, thanks those who were mispallel on her behalf, and is pleased that so many have received a chizuk from her story. She thanks all the righteous women who set aside challah on erev Shabbos on her behalf in particular. “I am very moved by it all and hope that everyone will continue acting and davening as they do, thanking Hashem for his chessed” Miriam adds.
“I received brachos from gedolim including HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita, Maran HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita, HaGaon HaRav Yoram Abarjil Shlita, HaGaon HaRav Eliezer Berland Shlita.
The family calls on the tzibur to continue being mispallel for Miriam bas Rivkah for a total recovery bsoch kol cholei yisrael.

How did they get in touch with “HaGaon HaRav Eliezer Berland Shlita”? Isn’t he in jail in Zimbabwe awaiting deportation? How can anyone speak of our gedolim HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita, Maran HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita and “HaGaon HaRav Eliezer Berland Shlita” in the same breath?
A neis niglah. May Miriam have a complete recovery and may little Nosson n”y bring her much nachas.
Avreimi,
If you were to learn a little more about rav berland, you would know that he is one of the greatest tzaddikim of our time. Now although Dan lkaf zechut must be our first priority, say all that ocursed media about him was correct, he is a tzaddik, and our holy Torah states that when or if a tzaddik does an aveira (and it is always possible for a tzaddik to “slip up”), know as a fact he did teshuva shortly afterwards.
Avreimi, my dear fellow brother,a man of his stature in Torah and Emunah has surely done teshuva and has no reason to be looked down upon. Regardless what the media has to say…he ha surely done teshuva! 🙂 the story of David Hamelech and Batsheva says it all. That’s why the gemara says its assur for man to say king David sinned …because he has surely done teshuva 🙂
