Health inspectors working with Emakim District police and border police uncovered two chicken coops which they describe as operating under sub-conditions – producing some 250,000 eggs annually that are unfit for human consumption.
“The coops are located in two separate locations in the Lower Galil,” inspector Tomer Rachamim reports. The coops, with some 1,000 chickens, were well hidden and only a few people were aware of their existence, he explains.
The eggs were sold in unauthorized stands, at times along roadways. The chickens and eggs were confiscated and will be destroyed. Two people were taken into custody and they were indicted on Sunday.
