Officials looking into why ambulances were delayed arriving to a New York City fire that killed two 4-year-olds have suspended a supervisor and three 911 dispatchers.

A Fire Department spokesman says Friday the four employees of the facility in charge of handling emergency calls in Queens were suspended for 30 days without pay.

The move comes after the Department of Investigation commissioner sent a memo to fire department officials Friday, detailing the ambulance delays of the April 19 fire in a home in Far Rockaway, Queens.

Authorities say it was set by children playing with fire.

DOI Commissioner Mark Peters says three of the dispatchers in the Queens facility failed to promptly notify EMS for nearly seven minutes.

He says some of them have prior histories of mishandling fires.
