The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating whether two planes got too close to each other at Newark Liberty International Airport.

The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

The possible “loss of separation” involved Express Jet Airlines Flight 410, which was taking off from one runway, and United Airlines Flight 29, which was landing on another runway, the FAA said.

The Express Jet was heading to Memphis, Tenn. and the United Airlines flight was arriving from San Francisco.

The investigation is ongoing.
