Hundreds of residents of the Israeli Arab municipality of Um el-Fahm took to the streets on Friday, 18 Nissan 5774 following a possible price tag attack on a city mosque. A mosque door was set on fire and graffiti “Arabs out!” was painted on an inside wall. Police were summoned and they are reviewing security camera footage of the area in the hope of identifying the assailants.
Um el-Fahm district commander Shimon Azran believes the attacked was a hate crime and he is proceeding accordingly in the investigation. Angry residents blocked the area major intersection, angered over the attack. A large police force was on hand to contain the crowd and to reopen Route 65, the area’s main vehicular route.
