In a bizarre and disgraceful event, two residents of Beit El were taken into custody after allegedly attacking firemen responding to an emergency call in the community on motzei yomtov. According to a Kikar Shabbos report, the truck was responding to a blaze involving garbage that when up in flames. Two youths allegedly attacked firemen with metallic rods.

When police arrived on Monday, 21 Nissan 5774 at about 23:00, they took the two into custody. When asked why they attacked the firemen, they reportedly responded the fire truck was preventing motorists from passing the street. The firemen were transported to Hadassah Mt. Scopus Hospital in Jerusalem in light condition.
