Syria Does Not Know the Burial Location of Eli Cohen

According to a report in the al-Arabiya, quoting the former bureau chief of late Syrian leader Hafez al-Assad, no one knows the burial location of Eli Cohen, the Israeli spy who was hanged in Damascus. Cohen was a Mossad agent who succeeded in infiltrating the Syrian government and provided Jerusalem with valuable intelligence information.

Monjer Motsley explains that the Syrians feared that Israeli commandos would attempt to take his body so he was exhumed and reburied a number of days after being executed, and then again a third time.

Since his execution in 1965, his widow Nadia has been working towards having his remains brought to Israel for a proper burial in Eretz Yisrael.

Family members of Cohen accuse the Syrians of continuing to bring pain to the family, stating they do not believe the report that claims the location of Eli’s burial location is unknown.
