Benny Shai decided after 30 years in the military it is time for a career change. He however did not seek a position as a school principal as some former officers succeeded in arranging, but he will be a teacher.
Benny Shai explains that he does not see himself being a principal at present despite his extensive management experience since he was never a teacher. “I always wanted to be involved in education,” he happily explains, and now, he plans to actualize this dream.
Benny began in Beit Berel College in a special program to certify IDF officers as teachers. “I believe that teaching is a natural move following the army,” he adds.
Now, he is about to receive his students, 10th graders in the Shai Agnon School in Netanya.
“At the end of the day, we must direct the youth on the proper path,” stating he is ready for the challenge, admitting the first day of school, Monday, will be an emotional experience for him.
