HaRav Landau: “The Situation Is Terrible, We’re In Dire Need Of Tefillos”

Several askanim from the south visited the home of HaGaon HaRav Dov Laundau late last week.

HaRav Landau told the askanim: “We’re surrounded by enemies – it’s dangerous in the south but it’s even more dangerous in the north. We can’t predict what they’ll do. We need to daven, increase our tefillos. In every place, the Rabbanim should decide how to establish tefillos.”

“The haters of Israel are very well-prepared. According to what I heard, they [Hezbollah] have weapons that can reach every location in Israel. The situation is terrible these days – we need to daven!”

“We’re in dire need of tefillos. Can anyone say that they’ll be safe? Are we going to wait, chalilah, until something happens? Those in charge [of leading the war] are stumped. We need to arrange tefillos. From what I know, the situation is very difficult.”

  1. We need to daven more and have more Ahavas Yisroel.
But Jews in Israel shouldn’t be worried.

Israel is the safest place in the world!

Every single mitzvah we do , small or big, should be with kavonah that it will bring the geula immediately!

  2. I have never understood it when people say that Israel is the safest place in the world. Since 1948 until 2024, the amount of Jews that have been killed because they were Jewish is the tens of thousands. Any place else in the world during that period had far less so please explain that rationale

  3. With all due respect to the Rav, there’s also a desperate need for more SOLDIERS – which is why the army has had to make the difficult decision to call boys from Hesder Yeshivos and pre-army Mechinot to leave their Gemaras and be drafted early. This was so important that UTJ Minister Meir Porush defended it in the Knesset. Somehow, though, there’s another group sitting and learning whose Torah must be more important – after all, the government has not decided to cancel their deferrals and call them up…

There’s a time for Tefila and a time for action. I don’t necessarily blame the Rav for not recognizing when the time for action has come – after all, Moshe Rabeinu, our greatest leader, made the same error, and had to be corrected by HKB”H himself –
    :

Tefila is wonderful, but not always enough. Sometimes action is required too.
