The IDF says it has successfully demolished Hamas’s primary rocket and weapon manufacturing industrial zone in the central Gaza Strip. The operation also included the destruction of a vast tunnel network located beneath the facility, which housed some of these weapons manufacturing facilities.

The IDF allowed reporters to view parts of the facility during a media tour earlier this month. The site was situated on Salah a-Din road in the Bureij area.

Recent developments in the Maghazi area and between Bureij and Nuseirat have led IDF troops to the discovery of additional sites. The 36th Division, the Yahalom combat engineering unit, and the Air Force’s Shaldag unit worked tirelessly to uncover and eliminate dozens of tunnel shafts in the vicinity of Salah a-Din road in central Gaza. These tunnel shafts were interconnected with hundreds of kilometers of underground passages.

Notably, one of the tunnel shafts was found inside the residence of a senior Hamas commander who was responsible for the rocket manufacturing facilities.

Both above and below ground in Maghazi, Bureij, and Nuseirat, the IDF discovered steel workshops, chemical and explosives factories, and storage facilities housing long-range rockets.
