State Dept Slams “Inflammatory And Irresponsible Rhetoric” From Ben Gvir And Smotrich

The US State Department on Tuesday released a scathing rebuke of Israeli MKs Itamar Ben Gvir and Betzalel Smotrich, who have suggested in recent days that Palestinians should be thrown out of the Gaza Strip.

Ben Gvir told members of his Otzma Yehudit party that the war presents an “opportunity to concentrate on encouraging the migration of the residents of Gaza,” which he called “a correct, just, moral and humane solution.”

“We cannot withdraw from any territory we are in in the Gaza Strip. Not only do I not rule out Jewish settlement there, I believe it is also an important thing,” he said.

Similarly, Smotrich said that the “correct solution” about what to do with Gaza once Hamas is toppled is “to encourage the voluntary migration of Gaza’s residents to countries that will agree to take in the refugees,” and ensure that “Israel will permanently control the territory of the Gaza Strip.”

“The United States rejects recent statements from Israeli Ministers Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben Gvir advocating for the resettlement of Palestinians outside of Gaza,” State Dept. spokesman Matthew Miller said. “This rhetoric is inflammatory and irresponsible. We have been told repeatedly and consistently by the Government of Israel, including by the Prime Minister, that such statements do not reflect the policy of the Israeli government. They should stop immediately.”

He added: “We have been clear, consistent, and unequivocal that Gaza is Palestinian land and will remain Palestinian land, with Hamas no longer in control of its future and with no terror groups able to threaten Israel. That is the future we seek, in the interests of Israelis and Palestinians, the surrounding region, and the world.”

  2. “We have been clear, consistent, and unequivocal that Gaza is Palestinian land and will remain Palestinian land, with Hamas no longer in control of its future and with no terror groups able to threaten Israel.”

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me again and again for 70﬩ years, shame on me.

  3. How about a scathing rebuke of the US State department for claiming that there’s is really who are murdering etc Yishmaelistans YMSH?????

At least what the Israeli politicians said l, is true!

  4. “We have been clear, consistent, and unequivocal that Gaza is Palestinian land and will remain Palestinian land”. Who is “We”?

On that day Hashem made a covenant with Avram saying, “To your descendants have I given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates River” – Bereishis 15:18–21

“I will establish your borders from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea, and from the desert to the Euphrates River. I will give into your hands the people who live in the land, and you will drive them out before you. Do not make a covenant with them or with their gods. Do not let them live in your land or they will cause you to sin against me, because the worship of their gods will certainly be a snare to you.” Shemos 23:31-33

  5. Ethnic cleansing requires armed force. It is therefore a form a genocide. Having two Israeli cabinet members advocate genocide does not help Israel, and could lead to serious problems, noting that a considerable number of people in western countries (especially among the elite) saw nothing wrong with Hamas’s atrocities.

  6. Akuperma, where did you (mis)read that Smotrich and Ben Gvir advocated genocide?! Where in their statement do they suggest killing Gazans? They recommended VOLUNTARY – not army-enforced -resettlement of Gazans in countries that would accept them as refugees.
Nikki Haley recommended the same thing, specifically suggesting countries that support Hamas such as Qatar, Iran, and Turkey.
Many Gazans would like to emigrate if only there were countries that would accept them. Their leadership failed them, stole foreign aid (the most per capita of any region in the world), and diverted the funds to build networks of terror tunnels and fatten themselves and their foreign bank accounts. Their leadership plunged them into a war that destroyed their homes and their country. They would gladly relocate to welcoming countries. Morally, Iran, Hamas’ patron state, should take them in.
A large percentage of Israelis agree with Smotrich and Ben Gvir. We who live in Israel are the ones threatened by the presence of millions of potential terrorists who are trained from infancy to hate and kill Jews, who celebrated the massacre, and who now whine about how it ruined their lives. We would love to see them relocate to Iran or Qatar. Turkey is a little too close to home.
