COLOSSAL FAILURE: New Reporting Claims Israeli Intelligence Knew Hamas Was About To Attack On Simchas Torah

New reporting from Israel’s Channel 12 reveals more of the extent of the unfathomably catastrophic intelligence failure that led up to the October 7 surprise attack by Hamas on southern Israel.

According to the report, in July 2022, an IDF Gaza Division intelligence officer prepared a presentation warning of “The Mass Invasion Plan of Hamas,” which detailed plans for about 20 Nukba Hamas terror squads to invade southern Israel, supported by engineering teams to breach border defenses.

“This invasion constitutes the gravest threat that IDF forces are facing in the defense [of Israel],” the report said.

Three months before the October 7 onslaught, IDF Military Intelligence discussed the threat, with an official identified as Brig-Gen. Peh, who said, “We have tried, but have not succeeded. We cannot say how [Hamas’s Gaza chief Yahya] Sinwar will act, and therefore commanders in the field should take the necessary precautions.”

A situational assessment on October 1 revealed increased drills by Nukba forces, indicating Hamas’s active preparation for an assault. Despite this, the division’s intelligence officer assessed: “In the tension between the economic benefits for Hamas and the continued disturbances [that were taking place at the Gaza border], it seems that, at the moment,  things are heading toward an arrangement and a calming of the disturbances.”

On the night of October 6-7, there were clear signals of an impending attack, with urgent messages sent by both the Shin Bet and a military base near Gaza, leading to Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi being briefed at 3:30 am on October 7.

Although he ordered additional information and updates to the Israel Air Force, his response did not include preparations for a major incident. This highlighted a potential misjudgment in the perceived deterrent effect on Hamas, despite multiple signs of their preparation for an attack.

  1. It was known from day one that this was an inside job. It’s not a failure at all since they succeeded letting it happen. There would have been no way for this to happen otherwise.

  2. It was a Ness Raa
Know people who worked on the fences between Israel and other countries
If a bird landed on the fence at 2 AM the whole base was up
Maybe a slight exaggeration but you get the gist
    This was clearly ordained
Asked someone very spiritual where was Hashem on 7/10
    They replied
3000 well armed terrorists each could have taken at least 10 CV as we heard on a phone call from a terrorist to his parents
    The math speak for themselves
Hashem was between the 1200 we lost at the 30000 plus we could have lost
Each terrorist murdered less than half on average
Further more Hashem held the gates of the Northern & the Eastern borders

  3. Could it be that the intelligence community and upper echelons of the IDF knew it all in advance and let it happen to bring about Netanyahu’s downfall?!
It’s seemingly impossible to understand how the multiple warnings were ignored, including threats to silence those who issued the warnings, without attributing some sinister intent. Can this be a modern-day Altalena Affair? Not Jews killing Jews, but Jews enabling the murder, maiming, rape, and kidnapping of Jews to exact revenge against a political enemy?!
    יש דין ויש דיין
No one ever gets away with anything in the long run; an accounting will take place, if not in this world, then in the next.

  4. Major intelligence failures are actually common. Obviously 9-11 and the Yom Kippur war come to mind. In World War II, the United States was surprised over the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor (though the US’s own incompetence – they had the raw data to show what was happening). The Soviets showed similar incompetence when the Germans launched a surprise attack they should have expected. The Germans and Japanese (Baruch ha-Shem) managed to get through the entire war without realizing the Allies had broken their codes.

Note that the Allied non-response to the Holocaust was NOT an example of intelligence failure. They knew all about it and made a conscious decision to ignore it.

  5. I’m no conspiracy theorist, but you have to wonder. Many leftists at the top levels of government, and we saw how they seemed to believe that the judicial reforms were literally the end of the world. So maybe they didn’t think Hamas would kill this many. So for the price of maybe 50-100 lives they could:
1)put an end to judicial reform.
    2) get rid of Bibi.
    3) get rid of the “extremist” right wing government.
    4) have a pretext to get rid of Hamas, and
    5) unite a divided country.
I don’t necessarily believe this is actually what happened, but ya gotta wonder…

  6. Fact is Hashem is in control

If one needs to know the tools used
    then in my humble opinion
It’s not that any Jewish person did anything deliberately to allow our brethren’s slaughter
    However
    EVERYONE was busy!
With their eye off the ball
The infighting was horrific the political situation was untenable
Netanyahu trial is a farce obviously no smoke without fire
Proof is when we are ALL under threat of this war they still continue with the case
    How foolish are we
Our lives are on the line and we have our boss busy with a case that has it’s foundation in politics
    We are still blind
How does any mother who lost a son in war feel when the CEO has his eye off the ball fighting a court case that is absurd
We need to back our leader 100%
That’s while we have a war
After the war he and anyone who was in politics needs to resign and allow for new blood every single one failed us including the heads of the security
The way some have and are behaving in the frum camp is a disgrace
Idiotic to call the governor of the bank
Negative to the state as one example of the disgrace
