On Monday, March 31, 2014 at approximately 0117 hours, the NYPD and the FDNY responded to a 911 call of a residential fire inside of 2954 West 8 Street, in the Coney Island section of Brooklyn. Upon arrival and extinguishment of the fire by FDNY, officers observed a 93-year-old male unconscious and unresponsive inside of the location. EMS also responded and transported the victim to Coney Island Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
