Morris Talansky will not return to Israel continue giving his early testimony in the probe of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, the Jerusalem Post is reporting.
The State Attorney’s Office delivered a letter from Talansky’s US lawyers to the defense teams of Olmert and his former office manager in which they write that they had advised their client to cut his cross-examination short and not to show up for the remainder of his preliminary testimony in Israel.
One of the reasons for the advice, they said, was the opening of an FBI investigation against Talansky in the United States following his testimony in Israel.
Israel Radio reported that Talansky’s lawyers had advised him against completing his early testimony before the conclusion of the investigation against him in the US.
The attorneys emphasized, however, that their client was still committed to cooperating with the investigation in Israel.
