Yediot Ahronot reports that El Al Israel Airlines will going to charge passengers more for comfortable seats.
Passengers will pay an extra $39 each way for a seat near the emergency exit on flights to Europe, and $59 on Transatlantic routes.
The advantage in having a sear near the emergency exit is the fact that the seats in the row in front of them are not reclining seats, thereby giving passengers more leg room.
El Al did not previously have any policy on seat allocation.

I have sat in those exit row seats, My travel agent thought I would like them. It was so much colder, my toes froze, It was incredibly uncomfortible. I recommend avoiding them at all costs, and would NEVER pay extra to sit there.
With Israir out, there will be no stopping elal prices from going higher and higher, and frum people who have patronized elal so much over the years will be forced not to fly as much and when we do, will pay away alot of money we may have otherwise have given to tzedakah when we visited Eretz Yisroel.

when things get tough all perks are gone.jet blue charges seven dollars for a small pillow.if you brought your own pillow they would charge you for freight.

They are just doing the same thing the airlines in the USA are doing. The issue I have with exit row seating is that l’havdil like in the 2nd Bais Hamikdosh you pay for it with $$ instead of being QUALIFIED for the job.
Another way to look at is is they have raised all the seats by $59, and gave the ones with less leg room a discount. –ALL the airlines, not just EL AL are in serious financial troubles (note how Israir got out of the trans-Atlantic business when it decided it couldn’t make a profit). — Be happy they are still flying and apparently still solvent — Think, we will tell our grandchildren how once upon the time, even middle class people could actually afford to visit Israel, but they won’t believe us.

Have you been reading the news what all the airlines are charging for? Pillows, meals, luggage, snacks, etc. Get Real, you might feel better if you turn on the A/C (which conedison charges for).
to geshmakemirrer. You don’t like the price or the pricing policy? Use another airline, maybe an airline run by “tzadikim”. If you are ignorant of the financial world and the economic changes recently,that is not an aveira. But calling El Al “rishaim” and ranting for a boycott because of their pricing is probably an aveira , in addition to being quite laughable.
