Former president and current Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump made his first public comments about the recent heinous Hamas attacks on Israel that have killed more than 1,200, including 25 Americans – and the comments weren’t pretty. Stunningly, the ex-prez thought it would be appropriate to both praise Hezbollah and attack Israel over the atrocities.
“You talk about the intelligence or you talk about some of the things that went wrong over the last week, they’ve got to straighten it out because they’re fighting potentially a very big force. They’re fighting potentially, Iran,” Trump said at a campaign rally in West Palm Beach, Florida. “When they have people saying the wrong things, everything they say is being digested by these people because they’re vicious and they’re smart. And boy, are they vicious because nobody’s ever seen the kind of sight that we’ve seen.”
Trump recalled his administration’s decision to target Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani in a drone strike, and then attacked Netanyahu.
“I’ll never forget that Bibi Netanyahu let us down. That was a very terrible thing. We were very disappointed, but we did the job ourselves, and it was absolute precision, magnificent, beautiful job,” Trump said. “Then Bibi tried to take credit for it. That didn’t make me feel too good. But that’s all right.”
Israeli Minister Shlomo Karhi said in response to Trump’s comments: “It’s a shame that such a person, the former president of the United States, assists in propaganda and disseminating things that harm the spirit of IDF fighters and the spirit of Israel’s residents.”
It’s not the first time that Trump has heaped praise on murderers. He previously called North Korea’s Kim Jong Un a “very talented” and “smart” guy who has a “great personality” and insisted that “his country does love him” with “great fervor”. He that he likes Chinese leader Xi Jinping “a lot… I consider him a friend… He’s a strong gentleman.”
About Russian President Vladimir Putin, Trump said he is “very smart” and that “we got along well.” When asked about Putin’s murderous tendencies, Trump shrugged them off, saying, “There are a lot of killers. What, you think our country is so innocent?”
Trump’s comments also prompted a swift response from presidential candidate Ron DeSantis, who blasted them.

Trump mentioned not to let the enemy know one’s weak spot. And an Israeli military official spilled the beans, saying that Israel’s northern front is vulnerable. So Hezbollah attacked Israel.
There are other things that I’m not too happy about Trump. But this incident isn’t one of them.

It is no secret, Bibi tends to throw everyone under the bus at some point.
During the Trump administration the relationship between the President and Netanyahu soured considerably, directly because Bibi tries too much to take credit for everything Trump has ever done for Israel.
I imagine Trump believes Israel will win the war (be’ezras hashem they will) and he also thinks that he will win the presidency once more so he is trying to lay the groundwork for a Bibi ouster.
In no way am I trying to defend the former President, his comments are in fact completely nonsensical and reckless, yet at the same time calculated for a post war future Israel America relationship.

Trump is an isolationist. That is what “America First” stands for. Ninety years ago it meant not objection to aggressive and murderous policies by Germany, Italy and Japan – and the backlash from the failures of the leading “free” nations made isolationism a dead issue for several generations. Now it is Russia, China, North Korea and Iran whose policies threaten the “free world”, and Trump has shown a desire for “appeasement” in his dealings with Russia, North Korea and the various anti-western Islamic movements. He is joined in this by the left wing of the Democrats (who can’t stand him personally).
We probably would be most comfortable if the more traditional Democrats (think John Kennedy, Harry Truman, Scoop Jackson, Hubert Humphrey) and the more traditional Republicans (think Ronald Reagan in particular) would work together for a national unity government to confront the Sino-Russia-Iranian “axis”.
