HaGaon HaRav Shternbuch: “Every One Of Us Is In Great Danger, We Must Be Moser Nefesh”

HaGaon HaRav Moshe Shternbuch spoke to his talmidim about the war in Israel on Motzei Shabbos Simchas Torah at his yeshivah in Beit Shemesh.

“Each one should go learn because every little bit of limmud Torah can provide salvation. The danger is very great – not just for them [those on the front line] – but for us as well. The danger is becoming worse and worse and it’s not yet possible to know what will be here.”

“We need emunah that HaKadosh Baruch Hu will help but in order that Hakadosh Baruch Hu will help, we need to show that we also agree to do something difficult with mesiras nefesh for Hakadosh Baruch Hu. Therefore, everyone should accept upon themselves now that he’ll learn also during difficult times and he’ll see niflaos, b’ezras Hashem.”

In a video of his sichah, a chain can be seen around HaRav Shternbuch’s neck with the smallest Sefer Torah in the world, which was used in the past by HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky, z’tl, on Simchas Torah.

Following the earthquake in Turkey earlier this year, HaRav Shternbuch warned of the words of Zechariah HaNavi who brought a nevuah that the houses in Yerushalayim will be destroyed even before milchamas Gog U’Magog and that half of the city’s population will be driven into exile.

  1. I ask that everyone please say an extra Tefila for those being Moser Nefesh on the front lines protecting the Am Hashem Hayoshev b’Tzion. There are over 50 people from my Shul alone who have been called to active duty – including my own sons.

  2. 147: I visited Rav Shternbuch in 2020 and already then I needed a translator as the Rov either didn’t remember English or found it too difficult to speak it.

It seemed the Rov understood me but he answered me in Hebrew.
