*An Arab male appearing suspicious was checked by soldiers in Chevron on Monday. He was concealing a small knife. He was taken into custody.
*A security guard protecting workers constructing the perimeter fence near Na’alin fired at Arabs when he determined he was in life-threatening danger due to rock attacks. No injuries were reported. Miraculously, the security guard escaped.
*Explosion heard along the northern border on Monday were due to controlled blasts carried out by UNIFIL forces.
*A Kassam rocket landed in Sderot on Monday afternoon. No injuries.
POLITICS, DOMESTIC & MORE:
*The annual Kusot HaYotzer arts & crafts festival opened on Monday evening in Yerushalayim. Exhibits and goods from 30 countries will be on display alongside crafts of 150 Israeli artists.
*10 Av marks three years since the destruction of the Jewish community of Gaza.
*A senior citizen was mugged and beaten in Jerusalem’s Independence Park on Monday. He was transported to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in light condition.
*Arabs near Chevron angered at Israel Police for refusing to arrest Jews for cursing Mohammed. Police told the Arabs the law does not prohibit one from cursing.
*AG Mazuz informs an attorney representing MK Avigdor Lieberman that the criminal investigation launched against him about 12 years ago for alleged election finance fraud was being closed. The decision was encouraged by a petition filed by Lieberman with the Supreme Court. A second case, dealing with fraud and breach of trust will not be closed Mazuz announced.
