NYC Mayor Adams Visits The Toldos Avraham Yitzchak Rebbe In The Hospital

New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who is currently on a three-day visit to Israel, paid a visit on Monday to the Toldos Avraham Yitzchak Rebbe, who is currently hospitalized at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem due to kidney problems.

The mayor was escorted by Yoeili Eisdorfer, senior advisor to Mayor Eric Adams, who accompanied Adams on his visit to Israel. Businessman Ephraim Fink, a Toldos Avraham Yitzchak chassid who is close to Adams, initiated the visit.

The two discussed the Jewish community in the States and the issues of education in Chareidi institutions in New York.

Afterward, Adams tweeted a photo of the meeting and wrote: “Rabbi Shmuel Yaakov Kohn is the embodiment of strength and perseverance. His faith and wisdom are unstoppable. Get well soon, my friend.”

The public is asked to continue davening for the refuah sheleimah of the Rebbe, Shmuel Yaakov ben Yenta b’toch sha’ar cholei Yisrael.

  1. I’m not sure how respectful it is to post a picture of the Rebbe Shlit”a lying on a hospital bed. The fact that he’s speaking with the visiting New York city’s mayor doesn’t make it any more of a reason to post. I would humbly argue that perhaps less of a reason to. Actually surprised how such a picture even got out.

  2. Ok so his chosid is Mr Adams friend therefore he has to visit the rebbee? Whats the point? I know its a photo op but if Adams wanted a good photo op there are better places then bothering a tzadik in the hospital.

  3. Democratic mayors and politicians in NYC still know that being photographed with chashuvah rabbonim and askanim is political gold and helps retain their lock on certain communities which largely vote as a block in accordance with directives from those rabbonim and askanim. It is a formula that has worked for decades and while there have been some defections, still seems to carry great weight.
