The ‘Skunk’ Passes First Field Test

Border police on Friday used the new smell propellant to distance violent protestors at the Arab village of Na’alin. The unit, labeled the “skunk”, sprayed a foul-smelling liquid at the protestors, compelling them to leave the area to shower and change clothes.

The defense establishment continues to invest large sums into the development of non-lethal weaponry in the hope of deploying systems such as this one which can be effectively used against violent groups, but basically, the unit is benign.

As was reported earlier by YWN, the “skunk” was approved by defense, health and legal experts in Israel prior to its field use last week. Senior officials expressed satisfaction following last week’s deployment of the new weapon.
