Deputy Defense Minister Danny Danon’s days in the government may be numbered as he announces he will not sit in a government that releases terrorists. Following is Danon’s statement made in a meeting with family members who have lost their loved ones in terror attacks. The Danon announced if the fourth terrorist release is not canceled he will resign from the government.
“Over the past few weeks, Abu Mazen’s true intentions have been revealed and it is now apparent to all that these negotiations leading nowhere,” said the Deputy Minister. “I will not sit in a government that releases terrorists in exchange for nothing but Tzipi Livni’s fantasies,” Danon continued. “Despite my objections, we agreed to release prisoners in return for the privilege of sitting at the negotiating table with the Palestinians. This was with the hope that it would lead to concessions from their side. It turns out that the Palestinians are playing games with us. They are taking advantage of our genuine desire for peace while threatening boycotts to pressure us into more prisoner releases. I will no longer be a part of this sham.”
Deputy Minister Danon sent a letter to the Prime Minister demanding to cancel the planned prisoner release.
