Former NYC Mayor David Dinkins is recovering at a Manhattan hospital following heart surgery Thursday.
The 81-year-old underwent a procedure to install a pacemaker after he had trouble breathing on Wednesday.
Earlier this week, Dinkins was not feeling well, and his doctor told him to go the hospital. Tests conducted yesterday revealed that he needed the surgery.
Sources tell NY1 that he’s expected to be released from New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell hospital by this weekend and should return to work next week.
Dinkins was the city’s first African-American mayor; and served from 1990 and 1993.

I have a perfect model pacemaker for him. Soviet surplus, runs on 240 volts DC. It might just shock that cruel heart which allowed vilde chayos to murder Yidden during the Crown Heights riots.
OK, this article is not something that belongs here, in my opinion, and will only instigate nastiness; justified or not.

I hope a Jew didn’t install a pacemaker. And, who wants “Deadly” Dinkins to live anyway?
After everything is said and done, David Dinkins was probably the best Mayor for all our Mosdos! He shelled out the most money to all of them. The social services, which we are all Kvetching about the lack of them now, was booming under his administration. What happened in Crown Heights is unacceptable & he should of stepped down at the time, but lets not forget all the good he did for the Frumah!
Mayor Dinkins did some good things but he erased them all when he and his dear police comissioner allowed the riots to go on for days because, “It gave the youngsters a chance to let off some steam.”
Imagine that sick, heartless attitude.
