Mayor: Crime Drops In NYC Since January


debMayor Bill de Blasio says crime has dropped in New York City since he took over in January.

He says homicides dropped 21 percent and shootings 14 percent during the first two months of his administration.

He highlighted the statistics at a news conference Tuesday with Police Commissioner William Bratton.

The mayor says overall crime in the city dropped 2 percent.

De Blasio conceded that the extreme cold weather and several snowstorms contributed to the drop. .

  1. So if cold weather reduces crimes, is that a reason to support a policy aimed at reducing global warming? Putting Brooklyn on ice would definitely reduce crime.
