Photos: National Night Out Against Crime


nnn.jpg(PHOTO LINKS AT END OF ARTICLE) Americans across the country stepped out against crime Tuesday as part of the 25th Annual National Night Out.

Police departments across the country take part in the National Night Out Against Crime each year in hopes of generating criminal awareness within their communities and teaching citizens how to stay safe.

In Boro Park, Brooklyn South Chief Chief Joseph Fox was at the 66th Precinct along with Captain Peter DeBlasio, the commanding officer of the 66th Precinct, NYC Councilman Simcha Felder, many devoted officers from the NYPD’s Community Affairs Division, and Boro Park Shomrim. Free toys and a free rides for the children were offered.

“We were able to create more social interactions and strengthen our existing partnerships within the community. It was just another opportunity for us to let people know that we’re here and that we want to be an active participant in keeping their lives safer,” Chief Fox said.

In Flatbush, NYC Councilman Michael Nelson, along with Chaim Deutsch Founder & President of Flatbush Shomrim were at the 61st Precincts event. A moonwalk ride, along with free toys were given out as well.

Thousands of folks turned out in Lakewood, where Chief Rob Lawson was on hand to personally greet everyone. Free bike helmets together with free Kosher refreshments were distributed to the thousands of Lakewood residents which turned out for the event. Attending the event were Lakewood Police Department’s Special Response Team and Lakewood Police Department’s Traffic and Safety Unit, Lakewood Fire Department, Lakewood EMS, Lakewood Hatzolah, Chaveirim of Lakewood (CERT Team), Lakewood Civilian Safety Watch, and Providence House.
