President Biden received a jolt of reality from a recent CNN poll, as a staggering 66% of Americans said that a Biden victory in the upcoming presidential election would be either a “disaster” or a “setback” for the United States.
Reacting to the poll, CNN anchor Jake Tapper described the results as “horrible news” for Joe Biden. Tapper further commented on the poll numbers, acknowledging the severity of the situation. CNN political director David Challian provided analysis, revealing that 41% of Americans specifically referred to a Biden win as a “disaster,” slightly better than the 44% who held the same sentiment regarding former President Trump. However, 26% of Americans considered a Biden win a “setback,” compared to just 12% who said the same about a Trump victory.
Challian highlighted that Trump’s hardcore supporters displayed a stronger devotion to him compared to Biden’s hardcore supporters. The poll showed that both candidates were tied at 27% among those who viewed their wins as a “step forward,” but Trump held a ten-point lead over Biden among those who considered it a “triumph.” Tapper noted that most Americans viewed electing either Biden or Trump as a disaster or setback, indicating a lack of enthusiasm for both frontrunners.
President Biden’s approval rating stood at a mere 35% in the CNN poll, a remarkably low figure according to Challian. Breaking down the data by party, it revealed that Biden had 79% support among Democrats, but only 26% of independents approved, representing a nine-point drop since December. In comparison, Trump held a slightly higher overall approval rating of 37%.
The poll also highlighted the challenges Biden faced from his Democratic primary challengers. While Biden himself received 60% support, a surprising 20% expressed their support for Robert F. Kennedy Jr., with 8% backing former 2020 presidential candidate Marianne Williamson, and an additional 8% favoring another candidate. Among Democrats and Democrat-leaning independents, 67% of party loyalists backed Biden, while only 40% of leaning independents did the same. Challian viewed RFK Jr.’s support as a “potential warning sign,” with 32% of leaning Americans supporting him compared to only 15% of party loyalists.
A previous Fox News poll from last month displayed a similar landscape within the Democratic field. Biden received 62% support among primary voters, while RFK Jr. garnered 19% and Williamson secured 9% of support.
These polls consistently reveal low enthusiasm for President Biden, with a significant percentage of Americans expressing concerns about his age, even among Democrats. The data raises serious questions about Biden’s chances for a successful reelection bid in 2024.

Morons !!!! Where’s the other 34 % ???
I am a life-long registered Democrat and liberal. The polls reported here ask all kinds of questions, OTHER THAN who you will vote for. I think the re-election of Joe Biden will be a political setback for America, and I will vote for him over any Republican now being mentioned as a possible candidate. Trump has a huge lead over all other possible Republican candidates, but no appeal to anyone beyond his base. And there is lots of time until the presidential election, and a lot could change, including the death or disability of the two oldest candidates.
Another Trump v Biden race would be great entertainment but terrible for the country. The best would be if neither ran.
DeSantis v Newsom would be an election for the generation: support wokeness and all that entails with CRT and gender identity v parental rights and a focus on reducing crime.
Our country is in big trouble right now and this election is one of the most important in many years.
