Christine Amanpour, CNN’s international anchor long criticized for being blatantly anti-Israel, apologized for her characterization of the murder of a mother and two daughters as a “shootout” rather than a terrorist attack – but only after being threatened with a $1.3 billion lawsuit.
Lucy, Maia and Rina Dee were killed earlier this year when the vehicle they were driving in came under fire from Palestinian terrorists. Amanpour described the attack on air as a “shootout,” implying that there was some sort of back-and-forth exchange of fire between the parties. There was not.
On a video call during an anti-antisemitism event at The Carlebach Shul in New York City, Rabbi Leo Dee, the husband and father of the terror victims, said that Amanpour had written him an apology via email, but he replied demanding that she make a public apology. She ignored him, leading Rabbi Dee to consider a massive lawsuit against CNN if she didn’t apologize publicly for Amanpour’s mischaracterization.
The threat of such a lawsuit broke the camel’s back.
“On April 10, I referred to the murders of an Israeli family: Lucy, Maia and Rina Dee, the wife and daughters of Rabbi Leo Dee. I misspoke and said they were killed in a ‘shootout’ instead of a shooting. I have written to Rabbi Leo Dee to apologize and make sure that he knows that we apologize for any further pain that may have caused him,” Amanpour begrudgingly said on air.

What does that mean a $1.3 billion dollar lawsuit? Where did that figure come from? Why would CNN think they would have to pay such a strangely large amount of money? Who would get that money? Too much is missing from this article.

How is this Arab dog any different than the NY Times, Washington Compost, MSNBC, Shireen Abu Akleh, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, Cori Bush, Ned Price, Susan Rice, John Kerry, John Kirby, Chris Wray, etc etc….??? Always disseminating lies and deception, and stirring up dangerous anti semitic rhetoric.

Though I don’t have a right to tell others how to conduct themselves and what to do and certainly not in this situation by a thousand fold, he should have gone ahead with the lawsuit in order to (maybe) prevent such behavior in the future. He had nothing to lose. The apologies would be forthcoming in any event win or lose.
I could understand his thinking being “not to make this about the money “ but I disagree…
Lame and inadequate apology. She apologizes for the offense she committed against Rabbi Dee but nothing about the offense done to her many viewers on CNN by spreading a wretched “misstatement.”

An Israeli woman was driving her car near a desolate area in Israel some 7-8 years ago. Two Arab terrorists with AK-47 rifles mortally wounded the woman. The car swerved into a ditch. The terrorists then walked towards the car and at point blank range slaughter 4 little girls ages 7 to 14.
Recently, the IAF avenged their deaths by killing the two terrorists hiding in a mosque along with “innocent”
Muslims women and children. The world was outraged at the bombing of the mosque without any reference to the Israeli women and her 4 little girls—oops I should mentioned the Israeli women was also 8 months pregnant at the time of her killing.
Cheers to the IAF, the Israeli government and to the souls of the 6 innocent Jewish women may the rest in peace !! [I assume the child in the mother’s womb was a girl]

Too little too late. CNN has been biased but Amanpour has been the worst at that media, at least since around 2007. I just hope it serves as a warning to the racist Arab “journalists” the NYT hired last years…
