Acting New Jersey Gov. Richard Codey had a close call when a car came speeding across lanes on the Garden State Parkway and crashed into a guardrail.
Codey and a state trooper were headed to Monmouth Park Racetrack in Oceanport for a scheduled appearance when the accident happened at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Essex County, according to The Star-Ledger.
Codey told the paper that the driver of the crashed car was unconscious after the accident and that he rushed to his aid, tilting back his head until he regained consciousness.
No one was injured, and the driver tried to get away from the scene as soon as possible once he realized what had happened, reported The Star-Ledger, but he was detained by police for questioning.
Codey’s close call happens nearly 16 months after Gov. Jon Corzine suffered severe injuries when his SUV crashed on the Parkway (reported first in the media industry by YWN), which an investigation later revealed was the result of speeding.
The state trooper who had been driving Corzine’s vehicle was apparently driving at 91 mph, and Corzine had not been wearing his seat-belt.

What’s a “near miss”? It should be near hit!!!
The word near is describing the miss. He didn’t miss it by 1000 feet, it was a much closer miss, a “near miss.”
Would someone please tell Mr. Codey to stop ACTING!

Codey was the governor between McGreevey and Corzine. He was also the governor while Corzine was recurperating. NJ does not have a lieutenant governor to take over in such cases, so for now Codey is in the position of “acting governor”.
Is Richard codey Jewish?
He should stop acting as governor since Corzine is in charge.
