BLUNT TALK: DeSantis Says US Should “Butt Out” Of Israel’s Business

In an address at the Jerusalem Post conference, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis noted that modern Israel is only 75 years old but the Jewish nation is thousands of years old.

“The Arabs tried to slay the Jewish State in its infancy,” DeSantis said, praising Israel for maintaining its democracy despite the extreme volatility of the Middle East and threats of annihilation from Iran and its neighbors.

“Soon there will come a day when there are no longer any Holocaust survivors alive,” said DeSantis. “We must remember the horrors of the Holocaust because those who forget history are bound to repeat its mistakes.”

The popular governor also said that the US embassy will remain in Jersusalem no matter “where the political winds blow.”

“The US must defend Israel against disfavored treatment by the UN and agenda-driven international bodies…and we must reject those who reject Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish State,” he said.

DeSantis also bluntly asserted that the United States has no business being involved in Israel’s internal politics and policies.

“You’re a smart country. You can figure it out. We shouldn’t butt in to these important issues,” he said.

  1. Did anyone tell Bibi to “stay out of American affairs” when he showed up in Washington to address Congress about the Iran treaty? Obviously not, since the Treaty represented an existential threat. He also wasn’t reluctant to comment on American political issues in the guise of how they affected Israeli interests. I suspect American politicians on both sides of the aisle will likewise feel constrained about commenting on recent developments in Israel when those issues affect American interests in the Middle East, how American Jews will relate to Israel etc. etc.

Hum.. excuse me sir.. when your president signed an emergency state, unfortunately the entiere world was dragged into a planned democide! Stop this hypocrisy!

  3. Gadolhadorah, surely you aren’t that dense!
Bibi came to Washington to stop Iran from nuking Israel.

Biden is getting involved in how another country picks it’s supreme court judges (happens to be that they want to change it to the same way the US picks it’s supreme court judges(

You do understand the difference, right?

  4. Zetruth,

Trump declaring a National Emergency Concerning the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Outbreak (which he was absolutely correct in doing) has nothing to do with Israel or dragging in the entire world.

There was no democide by any Government due to Covid.

Stop the wildly bizarre and stupidly ridiculous conspiracy theories !

  5. Dorah,

Despite the anti-Semitic Kenyan having a tantrum over it, Bibi was invited by Congress, a separate branch of government, to address a joint session. You have a serious allergy to truth and once again, your mah-yafis kapo nature is revealing itself. It’ll be a happy day on YWN when you are gone forever.

  6. Lots of voters of all US parties think military and financial aid to Israel , and other countries, buys the US the right to butt in. DeSantis’ trip was supposed to show off his foreign policy credentials, but it is, instead, showing off his foreign policy naivete.

  7. huju,

Maybe in your woke, kapo world it doesn’t matter that Israel’s existence is at stake. Since you seem to lust after every anti-Semite why not buy a one-way ticket to Tehran and ask them to give you a crane ride?

  8. So the U.S. should “butt out” of Israel’s affairs according to him, however attacking a business, the biggest business btw, in his state because they disagree with a policy of his is fine. Shmecks of hypocrisy.

  9. To GadolHadofi: I well remember the tantrum you refer to. He actually threw a plate of food at the wall … oh, wait, that wasn’t the anti-Semitic Kenyan, that was the guy from Queens who invited some anti-Semites to have dinner with him.

  10. Dopy: Bibi was “invited” by Republicans to address Congress to influence U.S. policies which if you could read, you would have noted I characterized as an existential threat to EY. He also was consistently sucking up to Trump, which obviously didn’t help him since Trump trashed him anyway. Biden and the Dems have every right to express their views on the current debate in EY just as Israelis have the right to ignore hose views.

  11. Dorah,

Once again, Congress is a separate branch of government and they can invite someone address them despite the objections of the President. Internal Israeli political matters are just that. They don’t affect American interests in the Middle East and Brainless Brandon could care less how American Jews will relate to Israel.
